Optimal scenario would be a mod that allows 2+ PCs on the same LAN to play together offline in any of the multiplayer maps with custom number of bots for each side, no boundaries. And if you really want to get creative, throw in a bot controlled hero every now and then. There is no offline mode for big battles so you cant try that stuff for yourself. there is no entering vehicles because those are tied to your spawn, so you exit, they explode.
Sticking to single player modes is considered offline. Just for good measure, when I don’t want to risk playing online accidentally I use the instant action improvements mod which disables all online mode menu buttons to remove the risk. Of course, being a mod itself that also poses a risk at this time.

Half of the Space Maps are unbalanced cuz of this. While Droid gunships have missiles that are great at dogfighting. Lambda Shuttles have Missiles that just tear through the way to the enemy hanger.
