29ersare faster for sure, but I ended up buying a 27.5 bike and I really, really enjoy it. Feels more fun and nimble imo. Also, I'm 6'2 on an XL frame. The whole MTB industry says I should be on a 29, but I much prefer smaller wheels. Make sure you demo a bunch and figure out what you like.
Atleast check out the FS 27.5 Trail/AM category before you poll the trigger. It's a Cheetah versus a Grizzly Bear. One is nimble and maneuverable to go around things and spend some time in the air, and the other is big and goes over everything in its path. It's a different experience riding a HT 29'er versus a FS 27.5 Trail bike.
TheUSFS Accessibility Guidelines put outslope (or cross slope) at 2-3% for a Class 5 trail, which has a max grade of 5%. For steeper trails, like a Class 2 hiking trail, the target grade is 5-18%, max 35%, outslope 5-20%! Going past 15% outslope trails start to feel off-camber, and look it too, as there is almost a 2 inch difference between

GearRatio/Inches Comparison Chart--26, 27.5 & 29er with Cassette/Chainring Combos Okay so I created a chart to compare 27.5 and 29 inch wheels to 26 providing both a gear ratio relative to the 26 inch wheels and gear inches for the 1x11 or 1x12 Cassettes (SRAM in this chart) and the old XTR, 3x9 with 26 inch wheels I used
Easyto right through tight terrain. 27.5 have been around for many years as a slight step up from the traditional 26-inch wheels of the past. 26 inch wheels were too
Thedifference you're describing comes from the fact that 27.5 has a significantly longer ground patch than 26. The longer wheel patch helps lower rolling resistance and increase float and braking traction. The tradeoff is that the longer, more narrow ground patch means that 27.5 will dig into sharp turns more than 26 and have more self steer
26 vs 27.5”. Is there really a big difference between the 2. I’m quite new. that’s the reason I upgraded from 26" to 27,5"). For road there are many 26 and 29 tyres. 27.5 has more fat off road selections. The outside of a 29 road tyre is similar size to a 27.5 fat tyre. In fact the old KH 29 frame is virtually the same leg

On a 29er, the handlebars are wider than on a 26" or 27.5" to account for the larger wheels. If you're turning right, for instance, and your reach to the handlebars is already strained, you will struggle to get full extension of your left arm while remaining in the correct position over the rest of the bike. This puts you in a 'difficult-at
